Born on the shores of Campbell River, BC — the Salmon Capital of the World — I didn't choose this life. It chose me.

Growing up, the ocean wasn't a vacation destination. It was our office, our livelihood, and our identity. My family worked the water long before I could cast a line myself — running trawlers and draggers up and down the BC coast, chasing chinook on gillnetters, pulling prawns in the dark while the rest of the world slept. We fished the Inside Passage, the open Pacific, and everything in between, in conditions that would humble most men.

Out there, there were no rulebooks. No nine-to-fives. You woke up when the tide called, you worked until the hold was full or your body gave out — and you trusted the person beside you with your life. We made our own rules, solved our own problems, and got things done by any means necessary. A little haywire, a lot of heart.

They called us the cowboys of the water — and we wore that name with pride. This was the wild west of the Pacific. And we were right at home in it.

WestCoast Cowboys was born from that life. A brand built for the commercial seiner running his net at 3am off the north island. For the sport fisherman chasing trophy chinook in the Georgia Strait. For the prawn trapper hauling gear before sunrise, the halibut longliner, the crab boat deckhand, the tugboat captain, the sport guide running charters out of Ucluelet. Anyone who earns their life on the water and understands what it really means to work it.
